Youth Ministry

Lindsey Smith – Youth Director

All youth group activities are open to youth in 6-12th grade.

UMYF takes place following the Wednesday night meal from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Our youth group is a combination of middle school and high school students which allows for peer-mentorship. Our typical Wednesday night includes a time of sharing our YAY’S, NAY’S, AND YAHWEH’S (joys and concerns), having a devotion, and then spending time together building relationships through games or service activities.

We have one or two fun activities each month, in addition to our Wednesday night programming, which may include things such as lock-ins, Lake Day, going to the drive-in, playing Laser Tag, going to an Escape Game, etc. Time spent together in social interaction is very important at this age and time in their lives.

In the summer we take a break from our Wednesday night programming and do family fun nights. There is a different fun activity every week to get our youth spending time with their families and others from the church.

We have lots of fun while also learning important life lessons through studying scripture.

On Sunday mornings, the youth group meets in the youth room from 10:00-10:45 a.m. We spend time studying God’s word through different short devotional series.

Lakeshore is a camp and retreat center on the shores of the Tennessee River in Eva, Tennessee, providing Christian hospitality, rest and reflection for guests of all ages and background. The youth attend a fall retreat at Lakeshore each November. The youth enjoy learning about God in a different setting and inter-mingled with youth from all across our district.

Centershot Ministries outreach program that shares the Gospel of Jesus using the life-skill of archery. We offer Centershot in the winter for a 6-8 week period from January to March. Certified trainers from our church help instruct the children and youth about the mechanics of archery and the application of the skill to our walk with Jesus.

The children take part in multiple activities throughout the year around the church calendar.

Children’s Christmas Musical – each December the children of the church demonstrate the power of Jesus’ birth with a Christmas musical between the two church services. The children begin working on the musical in late October and are always outstanding witnesses to the best Christmas gift any of us have even been given.

Shoebox ministry – We take part in the Samaratin’s Purse Operation Christmas Child where we enjoy a potluck meal together before stuffing shoeboxes full of toys, candy, and personal items in a shoebox for a child in one of over 100 countries across the world.

Night in Bethlehem – During this evening, families wander through the bustling Bethlehem marketplace and discover what life was like when Jesus was born. Children will create unique keepsakes as they interact with local shopkeepers who share the Christmas story. Everyone love talking to Mary and Joseph in The Stable—and hearing about the miracle of Jesus’ birth.  The youth take part in helping put this production on

The youth enjoy taking part in the annual Trunk or Treat. They dress up as a group and have fun passing out candy to the kids from the community who come to the event.

My name is Lindsey Smith and I'm the Youth Director. I live in Calvert City with my husband, Derek and our two sons-Deacon and Davin. I'm a Speech Pathologist for the Marshall County School System. I have worked with the youth for the past year and a half. My favorite thing about hanging with the youth group is that there is never a dull moment! I love studying the bible with them and seeing things from their perspective. We would love for you to join us!
